WP Ultimo is your weapon of change when it comes to Website as a Service platforms (WaaS) based on WP Multisite. Good news, WP Ultimo 2.0 is already in the starting blocks.
WP Ultimo 2.0
WP Ultimo 2.0 is currently tested by a select group of alpha testers and will be released as a public beta soon. Let’s dive right into the new features and improvements.
Previously, it was quite complicated to customize the signup workflow. In version 2.0, they will introduce a powerful native signup form builder which allows you to create one-step or multi-step signup forms with ease. Additionally, you will also be able to A/B test forms, build forms for specific campaigns, and add meta fields to signup forms such as colours and a logo.
Single & Recurring Payments
Version 1 lacks the option to create flexible payment plans. That said, you are currently only able to create monthly, quarterly, and annual pricing options. In version 2.0, however, you will no longer be locked into a rigid system. For example, you can create plans that will renew every 2 days, 3 weeks, or 6 months.
In WP Ultimo 2.0, you will no longer need another billing solution when selling additional services such as SEO consulting for instance to your clients.
You will be able to create two new product types:
- Packages will allow access to plugins, themes, or larger post type/user limits within your site network.
- Services can be used for selling additional services and add-ons to increase average order values.
Revamped Domain Mapping
Your customers are no longer limited to a single mapped domain, but can add as many as they wish and select one as a primary domain.
Domains also automatically go through a series of checks to ensure that the DNS settings are set up correctly before they are set as active. WP Ultimo now also detects which (supported) hosting provider you are using and guides you through the steps required to activate domain mapping integration.
Built-In Tax Support
Taxes will now be supported natively in WP Ultimo, with extended support for EU VAT such as VAT validation available in an add-on.
Widgets, Shortcodes & Blocks
Support Agent Role
They will also add a WordPress network admin user called Support Agent. You will have fine grained control over the permissions that support agents have over your network and your customers.
Jumper & Toolbox
Similar to Spotlight on macOS, the Jumper is a search bar that gives you direct access to everything in your network. The Toolbox is a floating bar that is added to each sub-site of your network. It provides you with a shortcut to the management screens of the site you are currently viewing as a super-admin or support agent.
In other news, WP Ultimo will support Action Scheduler to handle heavy tasks outside the main threads. They will also keep track of changes made to products, memberships, and sites including authors and timestamps.
WP Ultimo 2.0 will also allow you to migrate your data from version 1.X to version 2.0. Some current functions will no longer be available in the new version. Domain registration at sign-up will be added in the near future. The WooCommerce integration will hopefully be available on the launch date.
Existing customers will get access to WP Ultimo 2.0 and its new features if they are available for your current license tier. They are not yet sure if the pricing will change. The Lifetime plan will probably no longer exist from 2021 though.
