Formidable Forms vs JotForm
Whilst both tools do forms, they come with a different approach. Formidable Forms is a dedicated WordPress forms plugin whereas JotForm is a hosted online form builder.
Formidable Forms: Rich set of features including drag & drop form builder, conditional logic, spam protection, and multi-page forms.
JotForm: Loads of features including form designer, conditional logic, form analytics, date limits, and form calculation.
Both tools come with an API and support a wide range of third-party integrations for accepting payments via PayPal or Stripe, building subscriber lists via MailChimp and connecting with CRM tools for instance.
JotForm outnumbers Formidable Forms in terms of available add-ons and integrations. However, it does not support MailPoet and WooCommerce out of the box. For the latter there is workaround available that requires Zapier and Automate.io in order to get it up and running.
Formidable Forms: They offer 24+ pre-built form templates such as B2B leads form template, credit card payment template, and customer feedback form template. In addition, you can choose from 9+ pre-designed form styles.
JotForm: They offer 10k pre-built form templates such as product order form, club membership registration, and online booking form along with PDF templates.
Winner: JotForm (larger selection available)
Ease of Use
Building forms is fairly easy with both tools. Formidable Forms, however, is shipped with an intuitive drag & drop form builder and baked right into your WordPress dashboard. JotForm forms can easily be added into WordPress posts and pages via their free Embed Form plugin. Forms need to created outside of your WordPress site though.
Winner: Formidable Forms (more streamlined workflow)
Both tools offer a free plan that comes with some limitations.
Formidable Forms: Pro licenses are available from as little as $49 per year for the Personal plan and up to
$449 $399 for the Elite plan with unlimited sites. They provide a 14 Day Money Back Guarantee.
JotForm: All plans include their entire set of features. They only differ in terms of monthly submissions, available space, monthly form views, and total submission storage. Plans are available from $19 per month for the Bronze plan and up to $99 for the Gold plan. By going for annual plans you’ll get a discount. They provide a 30 Day Money Back Guarantee.
Winner: Formidable Forms (for most use cases)
Whether one tool or the other is for you, really depends on various criteria such as required features, budget, and – well – personal preferences. As mentioned above, for our WordPress projects we would always prefer a self-hosted dedicated solution over SaaS forms. Also, we’re not a big fan of above mentioned limitations in terms of monthly form submissions and views. At the end of the day, it’s your choice though. What’s your favourite?
